Independent scaffolding is a supported scaffold consisting of a platform(s) resting on cross beams (bearers) supported by ledgers and a double row of uprights independent of support.

It is the responsibility of the scaffolding hire company to obtain a license for any scaffold that is put up on the highway including the pavement.

The purpose of using scaffolding bars is to create a safe working platform fro the workforce to build from.
