The lime that is mainly used for internal plastering is calcined from chalk, oyster shells or other nearly pure limestone. It is also known as fat, pure, chalk or rich line.

This is the most important coat and this coat of plaster is called a skim. Skimming requires practice, so go about it slowly and follow instructions carefully.

Plastering requires very few tools and materials compared to other trades.
