The range of work for plastering jobs could be for new-build housing or commercial developments, small scale domestic extensions or for restoration and repair of existing buildings.

If you are interested in doing a lot of drywall jobs, it is worth investing in some tools like an assortment of joint knives, stilts, a taping banjo or some other special tools.

Plastering can dramatically change the appearance of your walls. It will get rid of any dents or bumps that you have experienced whilst decorating in the past.

In many new homes today drywall plastering is undoubtedly the favorite wall covering material. It costs relatively less and performs well in most applications. It is also easy to install and the finished look is also good, especially after it is painted properly.

Don't - forget to wash all your tools and buckets once you are finished otherwise you will make it harder for yourself the next time.

Gypsum plaster is mainly for use indoors as damp will attack it and make it crumble. The most common types of gypsum plaster are browning, bonding and metal lathing.

The Egyptians used a plaster that made from calcined gypsum, very similar to the plaster of Paris of today. Their method of plastering onto reed very much resembles our lath, plaster, float and set work.

This is the most important coat and this coat of plaster is called a skim. Skimming requires practice, so go about it slowly and follow instructions carefully.
